The next competition for juveniles is on wed 15th Feb at 9am. All juveniles in the A's are to arrive and ready to play for 9am. All juveniles in the B's are not to arrive before 9:30am. All remaining competitions for 2012 commence at 8:30am. For these months we ask that:
Juvenile A's are to be ready for play at 8:30am.
Juvenile B's are not to arrive before 9am.

 

Dress code has deteriorated in recent years and all juveniles are asked to be dressed appropriately. Tracksuits, football shirts/tops and jeans will not be allowed. Juveniles are also asked not to enter the club house without the proper footwear. Some juveniles are coming in wearing just their socks. It is asked that this practice is stopped.

 

 

The price for the competitions are as follows:
A's 18 hole competition --- 4 Euro
B's 9 hole competition ---- 3 Euro
Entry to Juvenile match play event--- 5 Euro

 

There is a juvenile competition every Wednesday during the months of July and August.

Some of the new juveniles will be started on the 16th Tee and will play three holes only. Holes 16 to 18 will therefore be in use during these dates and all members should be aware of this.

 

 

It is important that all juveniles make themselves familiar with the rules and etiquette of golf. Have fun out on the course while respecting all members around you. We hope that you enjoy the game and all the facilities that the Curragh has to offer.

A practice match took place between Baltinglass and The Curragh over the Christmas period on Fri 6th January 2012. Seven members of our under 15 team and 8 members of our under 18 team took on Juveniles from Baltinglass. The venue was at the Curragh and we were fortunate with the weather conditions for this time of year.

Both our teams performed admirably. The under 18 team won 6 out of the 8 matches proving the strength and depth of our juveniles in this age group. Many of the juveniles on this team are eligible for under 18's in 2013 also and this bodes well for the future

Our under 15 team came up against one of the strongest under 15 teams in leinster. All the juveniles performed well with many of the matches being won or lost on the last few holes. Baltinglass proved superior and won this competition 6-1. Watching the Baltinglass under 15 team shows us the level we need to aspire to.

It is important that all juveniles take advantage of any coaching sessions that are to be organised with our professionals Gerry and Stephen. If anyone is interested in getting lessons they should contact Tom O'Donoghue on 086 8114340. Juveniles should consider doubling up with a friend when getting lessons as this would lesson the cost. It is hoped that special coaching sessions will be made available to members of juvenile teams during 2012.

The first juvenile competition for 2012 will commence at 9am on Wed 15th Feb. Any juvenile wishing to participate in the Match play event should give their name on the day to our juvenile captain, Tommy Leahy. Entry for the match play event is 5 Euro. The Trophy proved a tremendous success last year with Kevin Hoare emerging as the winner. The Trophy is a beautiful piece kindly donated to us by Newbridge Silverware. Further competition dates will be announced at a later stage.
