Club Web Site

Is it just me or is the information on our web site very poor. There is nothing in the club news or team news section.
There should be an update on how our teams are doing in each competition. As a person who only gets to the club on
a Sunday morning I would like to know how things are going. I did not know that the club had won the Pierce Purcell until
I was looking at the GUI web site last night.
The web site could be used for so many thing,e.g the resturant - menu's should be posted etc, you never know it could
attract people to come and use the resturant. It could be used to promote the Whitewater singles on a Wednesday.
The could be a section set up to keep people updated on player of the year, information on club sponsors etc.
They could as use it to keep us updated on how Paul O'Hanlon is doing on the Europro tour, not too many clubs
have guys out there trying to make it a pro golfer.
I am a member of a pitch & putt club and the webs site has more information on it that the Curragh site, they let
the members know everthing that is happening within the club and outside it, how individuals are doing in competitions
outside the club.

I too would share the view expressed by chatay, I think this issue was raised as a question during last winters AGM. A website for any club (irrespective of sport) can be a powerful tool for both club commitees and members. I would have some additional points on how areas/usage of the website could be improved that I would like to add to chatay's post as follows:

- informing players of changes to the course such as new hazards i.e. the 15th or areas of GUR and the appropriate ruling, a lot of members do not know what the correct relief is from the electric sheep fence
- all photos on the website/gallery should be taken during the summer (i.e. when the tree's have full foalage) the course is looking its best, at the moment
photos seem to have been taken during the winter.
- a rolling advertising banner could be used to generate revenue or give our club sponsor's more added value
- golfer of the year, winter/spring league tables should be available to view by members
- not only could there be a table tracking the golfer of the year but also one for best player in away competitions (i.e. Senior, Junior, Intermediate scratch cups etc.) with top 3 cards to count !
- may be regular photos posted of club events, team matches and socials

Most importantly the website should be used as the primary communication tool for the club and especially expressing a warm welcome to all visitors to the club.

Some very good points made DCribben, now that the members have this forum why not use it to express idea,s. Maybe the commitee can use it to make improvement things within the club.
I have noticed an increase in the amount of people viewing topics, but they are not expressing their views.
