Welcome toThe Curragh Golf Club

Members of The Curragh Golf Club play this wonderful game over the Oldest Golf Course in Ireland dating from 1853, when an article from the Belfast Telegraph of that period discovered in the British Museum by our Club Historian, Col Bill Gibson (Ret), indicates the club's existence at that time. Golf has been played in this area of the Curragh Plain continuously since then and while the layout of the course may have changed, the unique surface that is the Curragh has given pleasure and at times torment, to all who love the game of golf. Affiliated to the Golfing Union of Ireland in 1889, the course has evolved over the intervening years into its current format due to the dedicated efforts of generations of its members. Adjacent to the golf course is a major military establishment and the willing assistance given by members of that organisation over time has created an important bond which has resulted in the unique situation where Captaincy of the club alternates bi-annually between civilian and military members. The Curragh, a plain of over 4,700 acres, is owned by the Irish Department of Defence and is an amenity open to be enjoyed by all. It is also the home of the Irish Horse Racing Industry and location of the Curragh Racecourse, where the Irish Derby is held annually.
The pro shop is run by the Curragh Golf Club Pro Gerry Burke and his assistant Stephen. They offer a wide range of products and services.
